We are well into 2015, which means everything that was stylish in 2014 is now growing old, right?
Well, not necessarily.
But in the flooring world, trends come and go, and the same goes for carpeting.
Let’s take a look at a few things that is starting to catch on in the carpeting world for 2015
Carpet runners for your stairs
More and more often, we are getting customers who want carpet runners on their stairs. So in a way, this is a trend that caught on in 2014 and will most likely continue in the new year. Obviously, hardwood is a beautiful look, but owners realize hardwood can be slippery on stairs. So they are turning to carpet runners in order to keep that hardwood look, but prevent slip-and-fall accidents.
Neutral Tones
This perhaps is a trend that has grown over a long period of time and will continue. If you think back to the 70’s and 80’s, flooring colors ran wild, with blues, greens, and all sorts of flashy colors. But people are really laying off the wild colors and going with a neutral tone. This not only brightens a room, but it also allows the other elements in the room to stand out. Another advantage of neutral tones is it’s great if you plan to sell your home in the future because it’s safe and appeals to almost anyone.
Fluffy, plus carpet
The comfort factor is at an all-time high, and in areas with low traffic, people are looking for the plushest carpet they can find. Carpet manufacturers are continuously rolling out new types of fibers that create the softest carpets. This trend should continue in 2015.
Two-toned carpets
With a vast array of styles and patterns, two-toned, or tone carpets, are starting to really make a splash in the carpeting world. Many times, people are using a style of the same color, but just different tones, perhaps darker and lighter. This adds a visual appearance that certainly catches the eye when done properly.
It’s difficult to predict how flooring will change in the coming year, but as you can see, there are trends that have picked up the past year that should continue this year. If you’ve got an idea that you’d like to try, give us a call, and we’d be happy to help you with your decision.
