The evolution of home and office flooring has been monumental in the last decade. There’s so many new styles and trends that it’s tough to keep up with at times. But we’re staying on top of it, and here are a few new trends we are starting see amongst consumers.
Grey Hardwood
Hardwood has been around forever, and it’s still a customer favorite. What we are starting to see now is the desire for grey hardwood flooring. The grey allows for the natural knots and grains of the hardwood to be present at all times. But grey hardwood is also very neutral, which helps it coexist with many different elements. Whether it’s contemporary or retro, it can be achieved with grey hardwood flooring.
Wide Plank
It’s amazing what a subtle change can do to your interior design, especially with flooring. Rather than going with the usual 2” wide planks, customers are now looking to expand as far as 5” inch planks. By going with wider planks, customers are not only making their space appear larger, but are also able to achieve a more contemporary look with just a little change in width.
Reclaimed Wood
The rustic look has made a smooth transition from grandpa’s old hunting cabin to the everyday home with the use of reclaimed wood. Reclaimed wood features the natural character and imperfections in hardwood that consumers are looking for. Another benefit is that reclaimed wood is recycled wood, coming from old logs, old flooring or wherever it can be found in solid condition. But you don’t have to only purchase hardwood floors to get the reclaimed look as many flooring types are able to replicate this style.
These are only a few of the new trends we are seeing today. Trends come and go every day in the flooring world, so get out there and try something new. If you’re fresh out of ideas, give us a call. We would love to further discuss some other trends that might interest you.
