A big reason why customers typically come to us for new carpet is because their current carpet is fading.
But did you know you can prevent your carpeting from fading? The number one culprit for carpet fading is sunlight. While we enjoy the sunlight on occasion, it’s best to limit direct sunlight to your carpet.
Let’s take a look at some ways you can prevent your carpet from fading.
Blinds
Installing blinds is a quick, easy fix for preventing fading due to direct sunlight. If you need the natural sunlight to lighten your room, try some lighter shades that protect your carpet but still allow some sunlight in order to brighten your room.
Window Treatments
Ultraviolet window treatments are great for protecting your carpets. Instead of blocking out the sunlight altogether, UV window treatments are coatings that go on your windows that block out the UV rays from the sun. Window treatments come in dark or a clear version if you wish to allow natural light into your home.
Carpet Protector
There are products that can be applied directly to your carpet that helps prevent fading. You will have to reapply it over time, but it will prevent your carpet from fading. Please talk to one of our flooring specialists before applying one of these products to your floor.
