As we roll into the new year, it’s time to take a look at some of the new flooring trends we predict to see more often in 2018. The flooring world continues to evolve, so let’s take a look at what we expect to see this year.
Parquet Hardwood
Parquet hardwood is becoming increasingly popular in today’s modern homes. Parquet hardwood floors are made of solid wood pieces that connect to create a geometric design. The look instantly catches the eyes of guests who enter the room. Many of these floors are created using restored wood.
Porcelain Planks
This trend really picked up speed in 2017 and we predict it will continue to be widely used in homes in 2018. Porcelain planks are perfect for those who wish to have the look of hardwood planks, but want to place them in areas with heavy moisture. Porcelain planks are great for these areas because of their durability and resistance to moisture.
Recycled Carpet
We are already seeing this trend and it will only be used more often in 2018. During fashion week, the traditional red carpet was replace with “green” carpet. Also, carpet manufacturers are starting to come up with new ways to create recycled carpeting, including plastic bottles and corn sugar. Look for a variety of recycled carpet options to hit the floor in 2018.
As you can see, 2018 will be an exciting year for flooring. If you’re thinking of trying something new, give us a call and we would love to discuss some new ideas to try in your home.
