Fall allergies can often just be as annoying as Spring allergies, and with the warmer Fall we are experiencing, those allergens are sure to stick around.
Although most allergens remain outdoors, you’d be surprised how these allergens are thriving in your home, and more specifically, within your carpet. Let’s take a look at some tips to ensure your carpets are safe from allergens and eliminate them from camping out in your home this winter.
Hidden Pollutants
Allergens will never be noticeable. After vacuuming, your carpet may look sparkling, but that doesn’t mean allergens aren’t still hiding deep down. Even worse, often vacuuming your carpet can release the allergens back into the air. Proper cleaning of your carpet will help you avoid this situation.
Mites
Dust mites are a home’s worst enemy. These little critters are microscopic, so you wouldn’t even notice them right under your feet. Dust mites alone are allergens, and because of their size, they are easily inhaled. Again, proper cleaning of your carpets can minimize these little guys from making your carpet their home planet. Steam cleaning is always a great option because dust mites are unable to survive the high temperatures, but be sure to consult a professional before doing this yourself.
Mold
Just because we are heading into the dry season doesn’t mean mold still can’t make its way into your home. Always try and limit the amount of moisture from tracking in water as much as possible, but there will be times that a little moisture will make its way to your carpet. Be quick to react and soak up the water as much as possible. Proper care and cleaning of your carpet are sure to keep it mold free!
Prepare for Winter
I know, you don’t want to hear the word ‘Winter’, but it’s inevitable here in Michigan. Thankfully, allergens don’t survive winters outdoors, but they can survive in your home. So before winter hits, be sure to get those allergens out of your home and breath free all winter long.
