That once was beautiful flooring of yours is beginning to show its age. So what do you do? Of course, you go out and purchase a new floor.
What happens with the old flooring? Don’t think your only option is to throw it away. Old flooring can be reused in many different ways, and we’re here to explain how.
Hardwood
Hardwood is one of the easiest floors to reuse. Besides refurbishing hardwood, it can be used for just about anything — constructing a small desk, picture frames, a table, bookshelf, etc. There is also a market for old hardwood flooring, so you may be able to make a small profit from your old hardwood.
Carpet
Due to its tendency to absorb just about anything that lands on it, carpet is the type of flooring that is replaced most often. Whether it’s too worn out or has acquired too many stains over the years, carpet is constantly being replaced.
So what can you do with old, stained carpeting? Many things! How about reusing that carpet in areas that are meant to be dirty. Cut it into smaller sections and use it outside as a doormat or use sections to place in the basement or in the garage.
Carpets can also be used as great insulators. You have pets? Why not reuse that carpet in their pet house or kennel?
Before throwing out your old flooring, take a quick overall look and see what can be salvaged. Not all floors are always equally damaged, so take those sections that are salvageable and put them to use!
