Most customers probably believe one vacuum fits all carpets. That’s certainly not the case.
In today’s vacuum market, it’s all about how much suction a vacuum can produce. We’re sure you’ve seen the commercial of a vacuum cleaner picking up pool balls and thought to yourself, “I’ve got to have that vacuum!” You might want to reconsider if you’ve got thick or softer carpets.
High-powered suction vacuums are great for low pile carpets, but most, however, do not work well with softer or thicker, high pile carpets.
Softer, thicker carpets typically have 2 or 3 times the amount of fibers than a normal carpet. This can make it extremely difficult to push a high-powered suction vacuum.
For high pile or ultra soft carpeting, an upright vacuum with adjustable height settings, rotating brushes and a strong air flow will work best. The adjustable height allows the action of the rotating brushes combined with a strong air flow reach the dirt and debri that is deep down in the thicker, softer carpets.
It’s best to start at the highest height first, and lower if it’s too easy to push or you can’t see brush strokes. You can also vacuum soft, thick carpeting as often as regular carpeting.
With the proper vacuum and frequent use, you can extend the longevity of your carpet and ensure it maintains it’s plush, beautiful look.
