With spring officially upon us, it’s time to start thinking about protecting your floors from dirt and mud. April showers may bring May flowers, but it also brings plenty of moisture. A good start on protecting your floors is your entryways.
Not only do entryways protect the rest of your home, but they also are the first to greet your guests, so there’s a lot to take into account. Here’s some great tips when selecting your entryway flooring.
Weather Resistant
As mentioned, your entry way is going to have to endure through some of the harshest conditions. Whatever is going on outside — snow, rain, sleet, mud – will find its way to your entryway. Your floor MUST be able to endure these conditions. Tile is a big favorite for entryways because it’s water resistant, easy to clean and still greets your guests with a stylish appeal.
Play Well With Others
Obviously your entry way has to co-exist with the rest of your home’s decor, so take a look around at the rest of the home and find something that will fit in nicely. Take into account how your entryway will transition into the rest of your home. Is it going to connect to your living room carpeting or will your entry way flooring continue down the hall way and into the kitchen?
Changing Often
Sometimes change is a good thing, and if you’re like many of our customers, you want to change your floors often.That’s alright! If that’s the route you typically take, then perhaps your entry way should be a floor that is easily removed. Laminate is a great option here as it is durable, easy to clean and easy to remove.
Dress to Impress
If you really want to wow your guests upon entering your home, hardwood is a great option. Hardwood will welcome your guests with a warm, elegant style that will catch their attention right away. Keep in mind that hardwood floors are tough and durable, but do not like moisture. So be sure to keep your hardwood floors nice and dry. A welcome mat is a great way of keeping moisture in check with hardwood floors.
