When deciding on what type of flooring you wish to go with, you will obviously put heavy consideration into the color of your floor. But before you consider the color, you will want to decide on a dark or lighter tone.
What To Consider
You might not realize, but a dark or light flooring can limit the choices on the rest of your house design, depending on what you choose. For example, you wouldn’t want a dark floor to go with dark walls. Otherwise, your home might end up feeling like a dungeon. On the flip side, too much natural light with lighter floors and light walls might blind yourself and your guests.
Going Dark
Hardwood floors are not your only options for a darker tone, as you can go with laminate or luxury vinyl, which can emulate the grooves and knots that are prevalent in hardwood floors.
Dark floors are a great option with light walls and a well lit room. However, dark floors can make a room appear darker than it really is, especially if the room does not receive much natural light.
Going Light
A lighter floor style would be your best choice if your room is not well lit. Another advantage of lighter floors is its ability to hide the presence of dust, dirt and pet hair compared to darker floors.
Lighter rooms also provide your home with a more open feel and much more modern appeal.
It’s Your Choice
There’s many different styles, colors, textures and tones to choose from in today’s flooring market. There’s never just one right choice, but what’s most important is that you get the right flooring choice for your home. This decision is ultimately yours, but that doesn’t mean we can’t help.
