Before buying any area rug, there are five things that all buyers should know:
1. Know the size and shape of the rug that they are wanting to purchase. Rugs come in
many different shapes and sizes, so having the right size and shape in mind, will
help in the buying process.
2. Choose a color. Obviously rugs come in many different colors. As the buyer, you
should decide if you would like the colors to match your other home decor, or if you
would like the rug to stand out and me a color on it’s own.
3. Decide what type of pattern you would like, or if you want a pattern at all.
4. Figure out what style would reflect your house. Style can range from floral to
traditional patterns.
5. Consider the design. This can range from having the pattern all over the rug, to just
being in one area, or only being on one side.
While many people think that when they go shopping for a rug, “the right one will pop
out at them,” this is usually not the case. Home decorators suggest that you have an
idea in your mind because there are so many rugs to pick from!
